The Santa Cruz County Office of Education and Santa Cruz Works have partnered to provide Santa Cruz County educators and students the opportunity to participate in a series of exciting events that revolve around connecting your passions with the possibilities of the technology industry. These events are aimed at inspiring individuals to Think Big! when reaching for your dreams. We encourage everyone looking to expand their awareness of the possibilities that exist in Santa Cruz County by joining these events.

Create a Hopeful Future

Presenter - Kathryn Goetzke

Kathryn Goetzke is the Founder of iFred, the International Foundation for Research and Education on Depression, and Strategist with Hopeful Mindsets, LLC, where she develops and leads programs aimed at activating hope. She is an entrepreneur and launched Mood-lites™ through her company The Mood Factory, and created the first nationwide cause marketing campaign for mental health. Ms. Goetzke's expertise as a global mental health ambassador has led to two speaking appearances at the United Nations and the Never Alone Summit, and she was recently appointed to be a representative at the United Nations for the World Federation for Mental Health. She is author of the Biggest Little Book About Hope, host of The Hope Matrix Podcast, creator of Hopeful Minds, a free global program to teach the ‘how’ to hope, as well as Hopeful Cities, a free movement for cities to Activate Hope citywide.


Spring 2022 Event- Activating Hope as a Science

Date - May 3, 2022
Time - 4:30- 6:00 p.m.

This hybrid event will take place in collaboration with Digital NEST in Watsonville and Cruzio Internet in Santa Cruz. Food will be provided for In-person participants. Space will be limited for the in-person format so register early! * All registered participants will have direct access to the live streaming event link.

Event Details-

During this two-hour FREE event, Kathryn Goetzke will introduce students (grades 7-12) and educators on how hope is not only a teaching-able skill, but one that impacts all areas of our lives. As the founder of iFred and strategist at Hopeful Mindsets, LLC, Kathryn has been an advocate for helping students and adults realize the application of hope through her various programs that include Hopeful Minds, Hopeful Cities, and most recently Hopeful Mindsets on the College Campus . She will share the impact of these programs as well as provide students and educators an opportunity to develop their own plan for hope at the event!

In addition, Kathryn will lead a question and answer session with local Santa Cruz leaders who will join in and share how hope has been an integral part of their personal and career development. Students and educators are encouraged to share their own experiences and ask our panel questions on their approach to hope.



Event Panelists

Alexandra Navarro
Alexandra immigrated from Colombia and has been breaking barriers for women and Latinx people for over 20 years. She was the Senior Director at Digital NEST and Chief of Staff at Latinas in Tech, a global organization helping women enter the tech industry. Alexandra recently joined Paystand as Chief of Staff, a service platform whose mission is to decentralize the financial system transforming business towards a better economy


Will Wiseman
Will is a lifelong climate professional with experience in large scale electrical project management, AI for renewable energy power forecasting and solar development. He holds a double MSc Renewable Energy Engineering from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He is an avid scuba diver, snowboarder, and climate activist with involvement in Fridays for Future, Young Professionals in Energy and the Citizens Climate Lobby.





Adrian Dolatschko
Adrian moved from Germany in 2017, and is a UCSC graduate . He is a digital marketing specialist at Gazelle Bikes North America.
